I met Sophia while working as an engineer in San Francisco. She had travelled to Greece, and we bonded instantly over our love of the island of Santorini, the Mediterranean, and all of the things I had come to miss from home.
While I could easily find other products (Greek yogurt, olive oil, etc.), I could not find an excellent Greek wine to share with Sophia. I had stopped drinking wine since arriving in America. I was regularly experiencing headaches and red flushes, which I never had drinking Greek wine. Sharing the clean, flavorsome wines from home with new friends became my motivation for starting Georgós Wines.
Like Ulysses in the Odyssey, I traveled the world and gained experiences, and finally had the revelation that my calling was to create the wines from my birthplace; this time in my new home of California.

After moving to America to work as an engineer, Georgós experienced that a glass of wine was an invitation to a roaring headache. Back home, he never experienced these symptoms from Greek wine. Greek wine generally has lower alcohol, which could mean that Greek wine would produce less headaches. While he could easily find other Greek products (yogurt, olive oil, etc.), he could not find Greek wines at local retail stores and restaurants.
Using sustainable practices, he decided to import the highest quality fruit to make wines suitable for the American taste; fruit forward, soft tannins, and clean tasting. These Super-Premium Greek Wines are handcrafted, blended, finished and bottled with reduced sulfites, which at higher levels can cause allergic reactions, in Sonoma Valley.
The rest, as they say, is history.

Georgós is the product of Greek premium grapes; aged in our caves in Sonoma in barrels hewn from native American oak; Greek wine reclaimed its glory: American innovation to its core, genuinely ours, unlike anything else in the world. I am proud to be part of it.

Voila! Our Greek wine has arrived and is ready for blending. We believe in sustainability. Therefore, we import our Greek Wine via these containers vs. heavy glass. This reduces our carbon footprint to ensure stability for generations to come.

Finding the
Perfect LocationThere may be no better place to craft the new generation of Greek wine than Sonoma, California. World-class expertise can be found down every street. When I said Georgós would build on tradition to create something proudly unique, it captured the imaginations of some of wine’s best. Robert Rex is the 2018 U.S. Winemaker of the Year. He took his amazing understanding of what wine is and helped us imagine what Greek wine could be. With a great team, they dove into the unknown with me and did not look back.

How we craft our
Super-Premium Greek Wine is importantWe use old-world winemaking methods from the vineyard to the bottle. Our wine has soft tannins and it is fruit forward. We hand-sort our grapes to reduce toxins and bacteria. We make delicious wine with low levels of sulfites and no added sugar.
